Vacuum filtration is used primarily to collect a desired solid, for instance, the collection of crystals in a recrystallization procedure. Vacuum filtration uses a Buchner funnel and a flask.

This kit includes 1000 ml borosilicate erlenmeyer flask with 24/40 joint, Buchner funnel with fritted glass support, plastic plug-joint, and a vacuum pump. The Buchner funnel is made of borosilicate glass, on top of the funnel-shaped part there is a cylinder with a fritted glass disc instead of filter paper.The liquid to be filtered is poured into the cylinder and drawn through the fritted glass disc by vacuum suction.With a jointed vacuum take off adapter at bottom, it has a lower standard taper inner joint. The hand pump greatly simplifies the process of vacuum filtration, eliminating the need for a water source and vacuum aspirator. It is also much more economical than a costly electric vacuum pump.
