Soxhlet Extractor, Upper Joint 45/50, Lower Joint 24/40
A Soxhlet extractor is a piece of laboratory apparatus. It was originally designed for the extraction of a lipid from a solid material. Typically, Soxhlet extraction is used when the desired compound has a limited solubility in a solvent, and the impurity is insoluble in that solvent. It allows for unmonitored and unmanaged operation while efficiently recycling a small amount of solvent to dissolve a larger amount of material. A Soxhlet extraction apparatus is composed of a condenser, a Soxhlet extractor, and round bottomed flask. This Soxhlet extractor is the key component of a Soxhlet solvent extraction apparatus. The lower 24/40 standard taper male joint is attached to the flat bottom flask ,the upper 45/50 standard female joint connects a large size Allihn condenser which is used as a reflux condenser.
